The Weeknd manager Wassim “Sal” Slaiby has been honored in Fuse Media’s Future Middle Eastern History Class of 2021.

Fuse Media’s cross-platform Future History series was launched in January 2016 to celebrate “positive, proactive and emerging leaders and stories”.

In 2020, this franchise expanded to include an annual “Future History Class” made up of individuals who are driving positive change today.

 

Los Angeles-based Slaiby is the CEO of XO Records, which he co-founded with superstar artist The Weeknd, whom he also manages. Slaiby’s management firm is called SALXCO.

In April, Slaiby partnered with Republic Records and parent company Universal Music Group (UMG) to launch Universal Arabic Music (UAM).

Slaiby’s management roster features over 45 artists, producers and songwriters, including Doja Cat, Swedish House Mafia, French Montana, Bebe Rexha, Metro Boomin, Belly, Ty Dolla Sign, M.I.A, Bryson Tiller, Brandy and Ali Gatie amongst others.

He also sits as Head of International Partnerships at Prominent Middle Eastern Spotify rival Anghami, which recently listed on the NASDAQ in New York.

The Middle Eastern History Class of 2021 will be spotlighted through a short-form video series that premiere this week:
