Digital music distributor TuneCore has partnered with Qobuz to make music from TuneCore’s roster of artists available on the hi-res streaming and download service.

TuneCore’s parent company, Paris-based Believe, launched its IPO on the Paris Euronext in France yesterday (June 1).

Qobuz, also Paris-based, specializes in lossless and 24-bit hi-res quality streaming and downloads.

Last year, Qobuz raised $11 million to fund its global expansion.

Tunecore says the partnership with Qobuz represents its “continued dedication to expanding distribution for its roster of diverse independent artists,” and that Qobuz offers a range of music genres “overlooked by other digital service providers.”

Qobuz currently offers access to over 70 million tracks in lossless audio quality.

“The partnership with Qobuz enables us to satisfy the growing appetite for lossless audio across all genres.”

Andreea Gleeson, TuneCore

Andreea Gleeson, Co-head and Chief Revenue Officer, TuneCore, said: “The partnership with Qobuz enables us to satisfy the growing appetite for lossless audio across all genres, while also unlocking a global audience of Hi-Res audio fans for our artists.

“Audiophiles who appreciate Hi-Res sound will love Qobuz and its commitment to a high-quality music experience.”

“Music fans who demand the very best will be getting to hear much more great stuff.”

Dan Mackta, Qobuz USA

Dan Mackta, Managing Director of Qobuz USA, added, “The TuneCore catalog spans from iconic artists to emerging upstarts and we are excited to welcome them all into our world.

“Music fans who demand the very best will be getting to hear much more great stuff now on Qobuz.”

With its deal with Qobuz, TuneCore expands on its ever-growing list of recent partnerships. In May, TuneCore, and its parent company Believe, partnered with YouTube to provide music for its TikTok rival, Shorts.

Earlier in the month, Believe confirmed that TuneCore generated €364.9 million ($412.3m) in payments from digital music and social media platforms in 2020. The entirety of this figure was then paid out to artists by TuneCore.

To date, TuneCore has paid over $2 billion to indie artists.Music Business Worldwide
