Primary Wave Music has appointed Julianne Wilson as Senior Director, Creative Sync, and promoted Peter Kurczaba and Derek Pierce.
The company said that all three execs are “integral parts” of its Sync and Licensing team and will report to Marty Silverstone who oversees the department as President, Global Sync.
Julianne Wilson joins the company as Senior Director, Creative Sync and will be based in the company’s New York office.
Based in Primary Wave’s Los Angeles office, Peter Kurczaba has been promoted to Senior Director, Creative Sync, while Derek Pierce is upped to Director, Creative Sync.
Wilson joins Primary Wave after a decade as a music supervisor in the world of creative advertising.
Over the course of her career, she has held various music supervisor and producer roles with Walker and SixtyFour Music. She has found, licensed, and produced music for several award-winning and iconic campaigns for brands such as Google, Nike, DoorDash, HBO Max, The Democratic National Committee, Old Spice and Volkswagen.
An eight-year veteran of Primary Wave, Peter Kurczaba started as an intern and quickly rose through the ranks, most recently holding the title of Director before this promotion.
He is responsible for sync activity across various media which include a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3/King’s Hawaiian advertisement, NBC brand marketing campaigns, and more.
He is also responsible for the “re-imagining” of some of Primary Wave’s classic catalog through covers and remixes which include songs by Smokey Robinson, Bob Marley, Stevie Nicks, Boston, Devo, WAR, Henry Mancini and more.
Derek Pierce joined Primary Wave Music in 2020 as Manager of Sync and has been an instrumental part of the Sync team’s success, according to Primary Wave.
Originally based in New York, he made the move to the West Coast to join the sync team at Primary Wave where he has been working to secure placements across all media for the company’s roster of artists.
Pierce has been responsible for syncs in top period-specific projects like Winning Time, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Daisy Jones & The Six and Cocaine Bear; While also finding opportunities for the catalog and contemporary roster in projects like The Bear, Poker Face, Station 19, Gen V, Pretty Little Liars and Rap Sh!t.
