PREORDER: Announced at Apple’s “Peek Performance” event, the new iPhone SE (2022) will start at $429 when it launches on March 18. You can reserve one directly through the Apple Store beginning at 5 a.m. PST on Friday, March 11.
The rumor mill nailed it: We’re getting a new iPhone SE for 2022.
Tim Cook unveiled the updated version of Apple’s most affordable smartphone during the company’s “Peek Performance” event Tuesday (which also brought us a green iPhone 13, a new iPad Air, and the beefy Mac Studio). It’ll make its debut on Friday, March 18, but if you want to reserve one ahead of time, set an alarm for a week prior: Preorders will go live on the Apple website at 5 a.m. PST this Friday, March 11.
Apple unveils new iPhone SE with 5G and A15 Bionic chip
The new iPhone SE will start at $429 for the base model (though you can get anywhere from $100 to $650 off by trading in an iPhone 8 or newer). That’s $30 more than what Apple charged for the 2020 model, but it’s easily worth it for added 5G support and a zippier A15 Bionic chip. According to Mashable’s Alex Perry, the latter “should provide faster performance and access to some of the features you see on iPhone flagships, like better battery life and improved performance in mobile games.”
Take your pick from three storage options (64GB, 128GB, or 256GB) and three colorways: midnight, starlight, or (PRODUCT)RED.
