Pizza Hut, an American multinational pizza restaurant chain is expanding geographically and targeting a young demographic in India, said a company’s official.
“We’ve been on an expansion spree, opening the highest number of restaurants in the past two years than we did in the last two decades, and we’re poised to maintain this growth momentum,” Merrill Pereyra, managing director at Pizza Hut Indian Subcontinent, told ETRetail.
Currently, the brand operates in over 850 Pizza Hut restaurants across India. Within this network, over 300 restaurants function as Fast Casual Delco (FCD) restaurants, tailored to the fast-paced lifestyles of on-the-go consumers.
The company shared that FCD outlets blend dine-in, delivery, and takeaway services seamlessly, incorporating cutting-edge technology like Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) ordering. The open-kitchen design ensures transparency in food preparation, enhancing customer trust.
“To cater to a much wider consumer base, we need to keep making strategic expansions to our menu as well, to remain relevant and accessible to our audience, who seek products that fit seamlessly into their busy lifestyle,” Pereyra stated.
India is a price-sensitive market with diverse tastes and preferences, so the brand is focusing on value offerings that suit Indian palates.
Recently, it has marked its entry into a new category in the Indian market with the launch of Melts. On this foray, Pereyra said, “Introducing Melts to our menu is a significant step towards our focus on value offering. This versatile product has already won over consumers worldwide, and we’re confident it will become a top seller in India as well.”
