In short but notable news, the Ernst and Young (EY) Entrepreneur of the Year awards for 2022 are open nominations.

You may want to be careful with CEO nominations though, especially if an award might go to their head. According to new research published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, when CEOs appear narcissistic it conflicts with what middle managers need and expect during a time of crisis. The uncertainty, decreased sense of control and lower levels of satisfaction for middle managers this causes can affect their own leadership behavior and may even consequences for the whole organization.

“When middle managers view the CEOs as narcissistic — having inflated self-views and being self-centered, entitled, indifferent to others and attention-seeking — they tend to engage in workplace behaviors that may not necessarily benefit the company in the long run,” said Jooyoung Kim a Ph.D. student in management and lead author of the paper.
